Offer a low first payment with higher recurring billing

Offer a discounted introductory price to encourage signups while automatically charging your standard subscription price on future renewals.

By default, the amount entered in a product or variant’s Price field is charged both on the customer’s initial purchase and on every future subscription renewal.

If you’d like to offer a discounted introductory price, enable the Subscription renewal price differs from initial price setting. This allows you to charge one amount for the customer’s first order and a different amount for all future recurring charges.

For example, you could offer:

  • $1 for the first month, then $10/month

  • $9.99 for the first shipment, then $24.99/month

  • 50% off the first order, then full price on renewals

This can be a powerful way to encourage customers to try a subscription while still maintaining your desired long-term subscription pricing.

When enabled, you’ll be able to specify both the Initial Price charged on the first order and the Renewal Price charged on all future subscription renewals.
