Updating a customer’s email address in CartGenie updates that customer’s email throughout CartGenie and affects future communications sent by the platform.
When you change a customer’s email address:
The customer’s email is updated throughout CartGenie, including the Customers panel, Order Details, and associated customer records.
Future emails sent by CartGenie—such as shipping notifications, order updates, upcoming subscription renewal emails, and emails for each new renewal orders—will be sent to the new email address.
Previous orders remain associated with the updated customer, and future subscription renewals continue to work normally using the updated email address.
Changing a customer’s email address in CartGenie does not update the customer’s email in Stripe (or other connected payment providers). If you want the email stored in your payment provider to match, you’ll need to update it there separately.
In most cases, this isn’t necessary because CartGenie handles customer-facing order and subscription email notifications.
